I disagree a little bit - this will help people in EB3 indirectly
A lot of people in EB2 and EB3 can qualify for auto adjustment of status now, so it will remove people from EB3 queue making it smaller.

Below is my post from one of the other threads and think might help the discussion here...
I sincerely think that the reason why various immigration agencies are getting away with 'doing nothing' for Legal immigrants is because media does not discuss the backlogs in the immigration system. If we can focus on some really shocking statistics....data...and request some reasonable media personnel to discuss and take up as a story...it would be more helpful than all flower campaigns...and other forms of protests. I wrote to Fareed Zakaria today and you can do so as well. We can try other famous personalities on CNN such as Soledad O�Brien. If you know anybody on the Fox News side who might sympathize and investigate the issue, try them as well. Every media and politicians bracket us in the same group as illegals or fraud H1Bs...that image needs to change before something can happen...its absolutely bizarre and immoral in my opinion when the head of DHS cannot go to congress and say that there is an unfair situation for Legal Immigrants from India/China in the immigration system and she needs temporary assistance in fixing the system. Sec of State and Head of DHS surely have the authority to refer an unfair situation in the congress for a temporary legislative solution until the CIR is addressed.

I agree with you 100%.
If you or any one else is planning to move forward with some plans for helping EB3 folks, expect some serious opposition to your efforts. Many EB3 folks themselves do not see any need for EB3 only actions.
A bunch of us talked to a lawyer regarding the INA and the initial reaction was not very encouraging. The lawyer was suggesting us to convert to EB2.
Lawyers would always suggest you to port to EB2, even in case EB3 I is going to be current tomorrow. Simple truth, they need money! So don't listen to lawyers on THIS!

I called up USCIS and got a response from Nebraska Service center, where my application is currently pending, that my case is waiting for an opening at local ASC.
We, residents of Bay Area, are suffering a lot from fingerprinting backlog, due to presence of few ASCs.
Also, my case was receipted at CSC and transferred back to NSC. Such cases are taking unusually longer for FP appointments. This is quite frustrating as there are other people directly receipted at NSC in August who have got fingerpinting.

My wife got EAD approved on 16th Aug and I got my approved today. I do not know why 10 days of delay.
One thing I noticed is within last week or so, lot of people are receiving EADs and I485 processing is slowed down. I think now they are concentrating on EADs and come sept they will again jump to 485s. Just a guess!

Any updates on your end? I am in the same situation. My wife received hers over a week ago but I am still waiting. Approval notice received more than 2 weeks ago.

If many EB3-I folks are getting GCs then why is EB3-I PD stuck in 2001? Shouldn't it move?
I feel where you are coming from; I am also from the waited four years to get approved from filing 485 club.
btw; every person I know of from India who has gotten green from October 2008 were those eb3 guys who converted to eb2 through perm labor. I have a feeling that this is going to cause a lot of stress to eb2 as many people have been able to obtain old priority dates through eb3. Maybe not much solace but with perm labors taking 9 months to get approved now (most recent approvals were filed in July 2008) it does help India a bit. It is taking longer for eb2 ROW to get into 140/485 que and would cause more visas to be spilled over. If labors were getting approved fast then there would be less spillover in this fiscal year.
Department of State is really playing with people with their continuing change of how they are interpreting the law with regards to visa spillover. In Mid 90's I left USA (one of the reasons; not main reason was because I was told it would take about three years to get greencard; looks like a small wait compared to now).
