I had a LUD on 7/28 and nothing after that... My I140 approved in Texas in April2006. I think we should get the receipt number here pretty soon...

My question is - has anobdy got their cards without getting the CPO e-mail - I have recd the approval notice on 11th in the mail - but I have yet to get the cards also I did not get the CPO e-mail:confused:

I do not understand why people spend their energy in coming up with some lame ideas. Just because you suffer does not mean that your fellows have to suffer, what is the point of being a sane individual with that kind of thought process.
There are people who come here on all kinds of visas F1, H1, L1 and like this country and stay back and need a green card for convenience. Students who came here want priority over people who came on H1B. It makes sense from their point of view.
Similarly people on H1B who got stuck in several stages and had to change the company have their own point of view.
How bout having a lame rule saying that GC for people with I.Q of 140 and above?

The list can go endless..

You can view my past posts in IV, I am not Desi employer but I may become very soon to employ myself (very close to get GC :-) )
Anyway have you gone through yourself with same situation/tension as OP going through or do you know someone closely who have gone through? Have you dealt with attorney yourself?
If that employer sue you, definitely you can counter sue for violation of wage related or h1b related rules and attorney will be the best person to advice you on that. make sure you go to an attorney who practice employement laws and have knowledge or have some other attorney in the same firm who deals in immi related matter. But question is, do you want to go through nightmare of law suites or you just want peace of mind.

I think deleting my post was not fair. The other people who have been bashing us with MS degrees need to also have their posts deleted.
I was not offensive in anyway, I just pointed out the reality of the situation and that is not "being offensive."
If you are afraid of alienating some of your contributors, well then by deleting the posts of ppl with Masters degrees you risk alienating them.
If I offended the admin personally if he/she does not have a masters degree, I apologize for hurting your "feelings" but that does not allow you to delete my post.
Finally, since 99% of the time the admins come back with not relevant to the thread, I agree on that ground but respectfully request the deletion of posts by a bunch of others like the "hiring manager" who instigated this discussion.
The posts were deleted on the basis of one criteria only- whether they were offensive to others or not and not on the basis of who wrote the post. If you do feel some post is offensive to you, please report it to us by clicking on the exclamation mark above the post.
As far as this discussion about Masters in the US is concerned, it must have been pushed for by the Universities themselves as this could be a selling point for their degrees.
People do have to realize that if people with Masters are taken out of the quota, then all of us benefit. In the current queue there could easily be tens of thousands of people with Masters Degree. If they are taken out of the quota, the rest of us benefit from the reduced queue.

I am starting this new thread to discuss about EB visas spillover usage based on oldest priority date irrespective of category/country. Currently the spillover happens vertically(a top down approach) from EB1 -> EB2 -> EB3...etc. Instead it should be first used on cases with oldest priority date. This will not only give a good move to clear the backlog but will also be a fair rule for those who are patiently waiting in queue for a long time. I wrote my concern about this to my local congressman. I also request each one of you, who is impacted by this, or who is interested to help us out, to kindly contact your local congressman/woman to express your concern. In turn they can contact USCIS to implement this fair rule to help us all out.

Congratulations, mine (485 and 765 for my husband) was received by TSC on July 24th but no receipt, no checks cashed nothing yet. It seems TSC is really slow in receipting the applications. My husband needs to travel abroad soon and we're anxiously waiting for the receipt...
My applications ( I-140; I-485; I-765) were mailed on July 27th to NSC and they had acknowledged received on JULY-30th as per the mail delivery confirmation.
Today I recieved a note from my lawyer that the receipt notice has been issued for all of my applications.
Phew that was a relief as I was about to leave to India soon and was worried about travelling without the receipt number.

IOs at TSC are responding to the enquiry of your case i.e they give info about name check status.
But in NSC the IOs are not giving any information, they are just saying they can't tell anything.This happened to me two times since last week.Does any one got same experience with NSC?

My attorney told me it should be 1.5 months after the receipt date. But with this unprecedented volume, who knows...

I remember my attorney saying that the applications were filed at NSC but somehow my receipts came from VSC. And this morning I receive an update that my I-485 has been transferred to TSC! Here is the detail:
"On September 20, 2007, we transferred this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER
PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our TEXAS SERVICE CENTER location for processing because they now have jurisdiction over the case. We sent you a notice of this transfer".

If that was all that easy, I am sure Pres. Fox would hire 3,000,000 telemarketers to call Senators from Mexico and put a request pro amnesty on daily basis. Somehow it is obvious that the person calling or supporting CIR typically have vested interests on that; I think when one detects that direct beneficiaries of amnesty - not an US person - are campaigning, lawmakers probably they tend to ignore that.
Sen. Specter is just going to have his ears full. I can imagine what angry US citizens could tell him on those hearings. If CIR passage depends on positive feedback from those hearings, it is going to be tough. I am sorry to tell you, but I have been talking to many Americans on this. Hearings will just bring the truth to the surface, and that means border enforcement, less immigration, illegal and illegal.
