Putting dollar amount to the signature is something like hierarchy system. People contributed more are on higher rank than others. I am not saying you should not put how much you have donated. But good will be to invite people to join IV. People are our strength. The signature should read

H1 stamping on passport doesnt matter. copy of H1 approval + I94 and employment letter will be fine.

But one of the most important thing i learned(my parents got rejected even with plenty of valid docs) is that, how the parents 'express' their indent to return is very very important.
it is like the job interviews here, there will be one or 2 questions.. You got to tell all that would sell you, regardless the scope of the Q..
Same for this interview.. For eg, they have 2cr worth investments and 5 laks pension and old parents leaving with them and a son/daughter to get married and so and so things to take care backhome... think of every possible thing that require them to be in india. any documents to support these claims may come handy.. but not to worry if not available.

I have not seen the 485 receipt notice come through and its been over 6 months since I applied. Down the line after a few months we will have to start preparing for EAD and AP renewal and I take it we will need a copy of the 485 receipt notice to file? Any thoughts.

just listen to the show - wonderful performance - you were crisp and to the point ... your points on this EB mess and the closing comments were great ... the 2nd caller shows the typical American common man mentality towards EB community ...
First of all, Mark: Great job ! I think this was a great spokesperson job for our issue. I think the biggest problem facing our issue is lack of awareness. I disagree with sammyb's comment. I don't think the 2nd caller shows the typical american mentailty towards *our* issue. Any talk about immigration, be it legal or illegal, gets overtaken with the bigger illegal immigration debate. And that is natural given the scale of illegal immigration problem when compared to the legal one. I think Mark gave a great response to the 2nd caller by giving perspective. Until there is more awareness about the *legal* immigration issues and a separation from the larger illegal immigration debate, this will be a tough battle.
On the face of it, this shouldn't be hard. People who follow the rules and the majority of them being tremendous assets to the American economy. Just the kind of immigrants a country would want : educated (in quite a few cases highly), skillful , law abiding and language proficient. Yet, here we are.

Is there anyway we can help the family featured in this thread? Like helping them with funds to hire a good lawyer or something on those lines? Reading all the threads, I am somehow thinking of going for the Indian dream now (Yes, I have the Indian citizenship)!!! 6 years and my wife still does not know if she can live in this country or not!!!

It means that they gave assumed names, also it probably means that they do not want people to read their court documents. I personally have seen asylum cases, and let me tell you, some of them are so full of lies, you would not belive your eyes (I have seen a guy who claimed his wife was beaten and denied medical services - he has never been even married!). I think their story goes like this - they came on tourist visas to visit her family, after that they stayed illegally for 2-3 years saving money to pay the lawyers, after that they paid a crooked attorney to buy some fake "proof" that they were persecuted and applied for assylum. Their application went to court, where judge suspected something was fishy. He probably asked for additional proof or obtained evidence that their documents were fake, and denied the case. That's kind of typical story for a denied asylum, and I would be very-very careful in trying to help them personally. If they get some relieve as a result of a broader legislation, like 245(i), I would not mind it at all (they will, because they have a pending I-130), but helping them while not helping people who decided not to go out with swinging lies and just stayed illegally... I would stay away from it.

Welcome to H city! SugarLand and Katy have very good neighborhoods with lots of desis. A lot depends upon where your office located. Cost of living is in Houston is low compared to LA, NY. Homes are "affordable". But property taxes are high (average is above 3%). Food, gas and misc. services are cheap. Insurance and utility costs are high though. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

WHile US protectionism might hurt them in the short run, but they are much better prepared than they were, only a few years ago.

I very much doubt that he will be swayed by faxes. ;-)

I talk to USCIS CC/IO last week. She told me that it will take approx 90 days to assign my case to AO. So my case is still getting dust on room and not with officer. It's sucks but wait continue...

I called up their customer service no and was able to reach an IO at TSC and asked about the FBI name check status. I did speak to an IO 3 to 4 times over a period of 6 months and initially it was pending but later on it got cleared. I did not ask for the exact date it was cleared but it was on feb1st 2008 that I found that it was cleared. But they did tell me the exact date on which the FBI name check was initiated. It was initiated on Aug 1st 2007 where are my 485 RD is June21st 2007.
